ATTENDANCE
Every player has a responsibility to attend all rehearsals and practice at home.
-
“Rehearsals” are for growing as a group and addressing group musical issues.
“Practice” is what occurs at home.
-
Regular attendance at rehearsals and consistent practice of assigned music at home are crucial if our ensembles are to perform at our very best.
-
When you join LYSO, you are making a commitment to your fellow musicians to work together and create a quality ensemble. The success of the ensemble depends on the full participation of each musician.
ABSENCES
- Absences must be cleared with the LYSO office in advance of scheduled rehearsal/concert dates, except in cases of illness. In case of illness, the absence must still be called in.
- Excused absences include illness, emergency, or special circumstances prearranged with the LYSO office. Going out-of-–town is not an excused absence.
- If you are absent from more than two rehearsals per semester (excused or unexcused), your attendance record will be reviewed by artistic and administrative staff and, if found to be unacceptable, participation in the upcoming concert may be jeopardized.
- Stage (dress) Rehearsals are equivalent to concerts and excused absences are not granted unless the following occurs: A Stage Rehearsal Excuse Form must be signed by the event’s teacher/coach, turned in to the LYSO office and approved by administrative staff. If the form is not signed and turned in before the rehearsal date, the LYSO member will NOT participate in the concert.
- Excessive absence will be reviewed by artistic and administrative staff to determine if the student will be allowed to participate in the upcoming concert. Members not performing in a concert will not be allowed to participate in rehearsals for that concert.
- Tardiness or leaving rehearsal early will count as ½ an absence. If a member must leave early or arrive late, it must be pre-arranged through the office.
TO REPORT AN ABSENCE (All absences MUST be reported)
FACILITIES
