LYSO Volunteer Group

The Lubbock Youth Symphony Orchestra Volunteer Group is the primary volunteer support of the LYSO Program. All parents, and any other interested friends of the LYSO Program, are greatly encouraged to volunteer. There is no fee to join. Simply return the Support Group form included in the membership packet, to the LYSO office at 601 Avenue K, Lubbock, TX 79401.

The form lists a number of areas where you can share your talents. Areas such as refreshments, mail-outs, fundraising, phone calls, marketing, advertising, printing, Internet/Web support, recruiting and promoting concerts. These are just a few of the areas help is needed. Any time or talent you can contribute is greatly appreciated and would be a fabulous opportunity for you to participate in LYSO with your child.

Financially, the LYSO Program is supported by tuition, grants, sponsors and fundraising. The tuition covers only a small portion of the costs. The LYSO Volunteer Group is a vital part of the overall fundraising effort in order to keep tuition fees low. Your support of all fundraising efforts is greatly appreciated!

Ways you can volunteer:

Serve as the Historian [approx. 3 hrs per month]
Help serve refreshments at rehearsals [approx. 1 hr per rehearsal]
Provide refreshments ie: cookies/brownies at rehearsals
Help with mail outs [approx. 2 hrs] Times I am available to help _______________ (most mail outs are during the day)
Help make phone calls from the office [approx. 2 hrs]
Help with fundraising events [approx. 3 hrs per event]
Help make calls for the telephone tree [approx. 1 hr per month]
Help put together audition packets [approx. 2 hrs] (January)
Help load and unload sandbags early July 4^th [approx. 2 hrs] (must have pick up – sand bags are heavy)
Help set the stage early morning on July 4^th [approx. 2 hrs]
Sit with the LYSO musicians during our concerts [approx. 2 hrs on concert days] (Fall & Spring Concerts)
Monitor Chair Auditions (approx. 1 ½ hours once per semester)
